
Juniors Fall to Huskies 3-2

Montreal, November 13th, 2009 – The Montreal Juniors began a brief two-game road swing today against their divisional rival, the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, with a tough loss by the score of 3 to 2. It was Huskies forward Philippe Cornet who led the way with two goals, which included the game winner. Alex Wall and Guillaume Asselin scored the two Junior goals.
The Huskies opened the scoring when captain Pier-Luc Giguere scored on the power play from Nicolas Deslauriers and Gabriel O’Connor at 6:56 in the first. Juniors defenseman Alex Wall tied the game at 9:58 from Jeremy Gouchie and Matt Provost. Just a minute after, Montreal took the lead when Guillaume Asselin put one in the net for his ninth of year from Loic Poudrier and Louis-Marc Aubry. Rouyn-Noranda tied the game when forward Philippe Cornet scored an unassisted goal midway in the second.
In the third, Cornet scored the game winner, his second of the night, at 15:10 from Dmitri Kostromitin and Gabriel Levesque. The Huskies defeat the Juniors 3 to 2. Juniors goalie Jake Allen made 19 saves and took loss. Huskies goaltender Mickael Audette got the win as he stopped 16 shots. The Huskies are now to 13-11-2-1 while the Juniors fall to 11-11-0-1.
The Montreal Juniors will end this short two-game road trip in Val-d’Or when they face the Foreurs tomorrow evening. The Juniors will be back in Montreal as they the Halifax Mooseheads in the Auditorium on Friday, November 20th at 7:35PM. Montreal will host the Shawinigan Cataractes on Saturday, November 21st at 4:05PM. Then the Juniors will travel to Quebec City as they face the Remparts on Sunday, November 22nd.
