The Montreal Juniors ended their 5 game losing streak on February 9th, during their last game of 6 game road swing in Val D’Or. They edged their divisional rivals by a score of 3 to 2.

Juniors forward Jeremy Gouchie’s third period goal and goaltender Jean-Francois Berube stellar play led the Juniors to their 3rd vistory in as many games versus Val d’Or.

Montreal acted quickly with a goal in the first when David Rose got his 5th of the season at 1:24 from Chris Thorne and David Stich.  The Foreurs’ Jonathan Hazen tied the game when he scored shorthanded at 14:20.  Olivier Dallaire would add another goal on the power play to give the Foreurs a 2-1 lead before the end of the first.

The Juniors would tie the game when Trevor Parkes fired the puck past Jacob Gervais-Chouinard as he scored his team-high 22nd of the year at 14:32 of the second period and in the third, Montreal took the lead as forward Jeremy Gouchie scored the game-winner at 12:52 from Nicolas Chouinard.

This was the seventh meeting between Montreal and Val D’Or this season. It was also the first of a back-to-back scenario which will close out the season series against the Foreurs. In seven games this year, the Juniors now have a 4-3 record against the Val D’Or, as they have won their last 3 meetings thus far and the last game of the set is this Friday at the Verdun Auditorium.
