
Juniors Clinch 2nd place after 3-2 win in Victoriaville
Philippe Fontaine’s 11th of the season with just five minutes left in the third period sealed the win as well as 2nd place overall in the QMJHL for the Montreal Juniors.
The Juniors were 4-2 winners over the Victoriaville Tigres which makes their last game of the season against the Gatineau Olympiques meaningless.

The Montreal Juniors defeated the Tigers by a score of 3 to 2 at the Desjardins Colisée in Victoriaville.
In the first period, Trevor Parkes gave Montreal the lead by scoring his 33rd of the year, while Philip Danault later tied the game at one with his 22nd of the season.
Late in the second period, Juniors’ defenseman Charles-Olivier Roussel scored his fifth of the season. And once more, Victoriaville’s Philip Danault tied the score, this time by scoring his 23rd of the season. It would take Philippe Fontaine’s 11th of the campaign, scored with just five minutes left in the third period, to seal the win for the Juniors.
Montreal goaltender Jean-François Bérubé stopped 26 of 28 shots, while Victoriaville’s man between the pipes, David Honzik, turned away 31 of the 34 shots fired his way. Philip Danault (VIC), Francis Meilleur (MTL) and Charles Landry (MTL) were respectively named first, second and third star of the game.
The Montreal Juniors will play their last regular season game in Gatineau on Sunday. They will then begin the playoffs at home on Thursday, March 24th.
