Juniors Clash with the Titans Ends in 6-1 Victory

Written by Nick Murdocco. Posted in Blogs - Nick Murdocco

Nothing like a good bounce-back game to put a team back in the winning spirit. The Juniors scored four unanswered goals in the second period and never looked back as they defeated the L’Acadie Bathurst Titans 6 to 1.

Specialty teams also played a role as the Juniors were 4 for 4 on the penalty kill and scored two shorthanded goals in the process.

With no scoring in the first period, the Juniors erupted for four unanswered goals in the second.  Loic Podrier,  Jeremy Gouchie (shorthanded), Chris Thorne and Nicolas Chouinard would give the Juniors their four goal lead before heading to the third period.

The Titan’s Bryon Milson at 12:34 of the third would ruin Montreal’s rookie goalie Étienne Marcoux’s shut-out bid.  Thorne scored another shorthanded goal for the Juniors and with eleven second left in the game, Guillaume Asselin also found the back of the net for his fourteenth of the year.

Marcoux was strong in his start as he put aside 22 of 23 shots in the win.  Titan goaltender Guillaume Nadeau Francois gave up six goals in the loss.

Montreal improves to 21-19-0-3 and will now conclude their 5 game road trip with a match up against the Rimouski Oceanic on Friday the 15th.  The Juniors will then open up a three game home stand starting Sunday, January 17th, when they face the Victoriaville Tigers at 4:05PM.   The Val-d’Or Foreurs and the Saint John Sea Dogs will visit Montreal on the 22nd and 23rd respectively.
