Juniors Bounce Right Back
After a tough, back and forth loss against the Cataractes last Friday in their 2009 season opener, the Montreal Juniors regrouped and came back strong in convincing fashion with a 4-1 victory over the Tigers in Victoriaville Sunday afternoon.

Rookie goalie Étienne Marcoux, who suffered the Juniors’ 5-4 loss, was again between the pipes and earned his first win in the QMJHL in a stellar performance of 35 saves.
Questions as to who will replace Montreal’s recently departed scoring leaders appear to begin being answered as Jérémy Gouchie scored first with his second goal of the regular season. Victoriaville’s Brandon Hynes tied the game halfway through the first period.
Montreal’s Trevor Parkes and Guillaume Asselin gave the Juniors the lead in the second period and Parkes hammered his second of the game at the midway point of the third to secure the Juniors’ win.
Parkes, a rookie, has jumped out and appears to be quickly becoming “Johnny on the spot” as he has accumulated 3 goals and 1 assist in the season’s first 2 games.
Montreal will now head to Val-d’Or and Rouyn-Noranda on September 18th and 19th respectively in the last of their 4 game, season opening road swing. On the schedule for their home opener, the Lewiston MAINEiacs will be in town at the Verdun Auditorium on Friday, September 25th, at 7:35 pm.
