The hopes are still high for the Montreal Juniors’ 2010-11 season and with the recent 4-3 overtime loss to Rimouski Friday, panic should be the last thing on fans’ minds.

The Juniors now have a 1-1-1 record to start the season and are without the services of their starting goaltender (Jean-Francois Bérubé) and 4 of their top 6 forwards (Louis Leblanc, Philippe Lefebvre, Louis-Marc Aubry and Trevor Parkes) who are all at their respective NHL training camps.

Despite the missing pieces at the forward position, the Juniors are proving they can put the puck in the net this season, something that could not always have been said about last year’s roster. The eventual return of these young guns as well as Bérubé taking back his spot in goal should serve as a positive sign of things to come.

Kudos to the depth players who are stepping up and making it difficult to play against the Juniors on a nightly basis, including backup goaltender Étienne Marcoux who has gone from 3rd string (last season) to go-to guy to start the season.

Read on for the Juniors’ official game recap.
