Jake Allen Traded to Drummondville
The Montreal Juniors were very concise and to the point with their announcement, but the announcement was made just the same : The team’s Number 1 goaltender, Jake Allen has been traded to the Drummondville Voltigeurs in return of a first round pick in 2010 and 2011.

This announcement coming just after last night’s World Junior Championship gold medal round of a 6-5 overtime loss to Team USA. Allen, was pulled in the latter stages of this game, but was instrumental in the team’s run to the final round.
In what was probably the worst kept secret in the QMJHL, everyone knew Allen was going to be traded. While speculation and rumors had him suiting up for the St John Seadogs, Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and the Quebec Remparts, it was heard only days ago that Drummondville, the eventual winner of the Allen sweepstakes, was also in the works.
As already cited here yesterday with the Pier-Antoine Dion trade announcement, it is alleged that the 2 first round picks Montreal receives from Drummondville, most likely will be returned to them in lieu of players already discussed.
Allen, a St Louis Blues draft pick will now play for the Voltigeurs but can take solace in the fact that there will be at least one familiar face in former teammate Toni Ritter to greet him when he does.
He can also look forward to helping Drummondville out with what now looks to be a very promising playoff run. Allen jumps from a Montreal team struggling with the .500 mark, presently in 12th, to the Voltigeurs who are presently in 2nd place overall in the “Q”’s standings with only 11 losses in the 42 games they’ve played thus far.
