Injury Woes Continue, Canadiens call up David Desharnais from the Hamilton Bulldogs
I was only musing yesterday, when I wondered aloud why the Canadiens had not yet called up recently streaking David Desharnais from the Hamilton Bulldogs. It would seem that Andrei Kostitsyn’s bad luck has turned into a shot for the young Quebecer to join the Habs’ replacement roster.
The elder Kostitsyn is a game-time decision for tonight's matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Kostitsyn was injured after he blocked a shot in last night’s 5-3 win over Columbus.
Thus the call-up of the young 23 year old centre, who will probably be placed on the wing if he does, in fact play. Word has it that the Canadiens were so worried Desharnais would not make it by plane to meet the team in Pittsburgh, that they hired a limousine for the six-hour drive from Hamilton to Pittsburgh. Welcome to the NHL.

Montreal (November 25, 2009) – The Montreal Canadiens announced today that centreman David Desharnais has been called up from the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs. Desharnais will join the Canadiens today in Pittsburgh for tonight’s game against the Penguins.
Desharnais, 23, participated in his second training camp with the Canadiens last September. He played in three of the club’s seven preseason games, before being assigned to Hamilton on September 21. In seven games this season with the Bulldogs, the 5’07’’, 177 lbs forward recorded 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists), with 13 shots on goal and 10 penalty minutes. Desharnais missed the first 13 games of the season with a foot injury.
A native of Quebec City, Desharnais signed with the Canadiens as a free agent on November 5, 2008. He played in 77 games with the Bulldogs last season, ranking tied for second with 58 points (24 goals, 34 assists), while posting a +12 plus/minus differential, totalling 97 shots on goal and serving 8 penalty minutes.
