Written by Nick Murdocco. Posted in Blogs - Nick Murdocco

The Montreal Impact have been secured 5th place overall in the USL Division 1 Standings and will face the Charleston Battery (4th) in the playoff quarterfinal round of a two-leg aggregate goal series.

Saturday night, the Puerto Rico Islanders defeated Miami FC 3-1, which secured third place for the Islanders and fourth place to the Battery. Friday’s  0-0 draw between Rochester and Charleston guaranteed the fifth spot to the Impact, making today’s final game of the USL season between Charleston and the already eliminated Minnesota Thunder meaningless.

After the quarterfinals, teams will be ranked according to the regular season standings. The semifinals will be played between September 30 and October 4.
