Impact to Face Antigua FC in Friendly Saturday

Written by Nick Murdocco. Posted in Blogs - Nick Murdocco

The Montreal Impact faces Antigua Barracuda FC Saturday  (7:30 pm), at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, in Antigua. Barracuda FC is a professional club, established in 2008 and mainly made up of players from the Antigua and Barbuda National Team,. They are currently ranked 12th in the CONCACAF.

Although this is an exhibition, the Impact will surely be looking to fine-tune any pre-sason kinks out of their system after a recent 2-0 loss in their first regular season loss to the Austin Aztex last week.

Injuries to Midfielders Rocco Placentino (foot) and Filipe Soares (Achilles tendon), as well as defenders Nevio Pizzolitto (thigh) and Simon Gatti (ankle), did not permit them to make the trip to Antigua

The Impact’s home opener against the Portland Timbers will take place next Saturday, April 25 (2 pm, Radio-Canada, radio-canada.ca/sports, CKAC Sports, THE TEAM 990), at Saputo Stadium.

Read the official Impact press release for more details on the game versus Antigua and its meaning for Impact forward Peter Byers.
