Impact Return Favor in 3-0 Win Over St Louis

Written by Nick Murdocco. Posted in Blogs - Nick Murdocco

The Impact needed a convincing win against AC St Louis last night, not only because it simply would help them in the NASL standings, but because the team and fanbase needed something to cheer about.

In the third game of their four game home stand, they got it, with a 3-0 victory that also saw the Impact dominate 13-5 in shots. Coach Marc Dos Santos was not only happy with the results, but with the new look and feel to the team that just had 3 new players added to the roster.

"Tonight, we saw a tight knit team on the field," said Dos Santos. "We were ready to fight for the win and we fully deserve it because we offered the best performance out there on the field."

Speaking of the new additions, Antonio Ribeiro who made his fourth “debut” with the Impact scored a late goal to cap the 3-0 win for the Impact with Tony Donatelli and Reda Agourram getting the ball rolling for the Impact.

Forward Ali Gerba and defender Wesley Charles, who recently joined the Montreal were on the starting lineup.

The game saw it’s share of rough stuff in the latter part of the game with both teams playing ten a side after Impact midfielder Filipe Soares and AC St-Louis midfielder Gauchinho were both ejected at the 67th minute.

Coach Dos Santos would later criticize the officiating up to the point of outright lambasting them for the lack thereof not only in this game, but in the last few, especially in Montreal.  Because of the red card to Soares,  he will be suspended for one game and therefore miss the head to head against Vancouver next week..
