
Huskies Take a 3-1 Bite out of Juniors
Montreal, March 12th, 2010— The Montreal Juniors hosted division rival, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies tonight in the Verdun Auditorium. It was tightly fought game, but the Huskies took the victory 3 to 1.

Juniors Chris Thorne was awarded a penalty shot from the odd-man rush that occurred on a penalty kill during middle of the first period, but he was denied stick side by Huskies goaltender Nicholas Champion. Still, it was the Juniors that put the first goal on the board when Jeremy Gouchie threw a beautiful pass right in front to Trevor Parkes, who tapped the puck home at 18:07 of the first period.
In the second, after killing off the 5 on 3 power play in the early going of the period, the Huskies started to exert pressure on the Juniors end. The Huskies scored two goals, both of them were deflected in. Huskies tied the game when Philippe Cornet tipped Nicolas Deslauriers’ point shot at 5:19 of the second. Rouyn-Noranda took the lead at 11:03 when Gabriel Levesque deflected in Steven Delisle’s shot for his twenty-forth of the year
In the third period, the Huskies defence and goaltending stepped up. Forward Jordan Caron added the empty-netter at 19:54 to secure the Rouyn-Noranda victory by the score of 3 to 1.
Juniors goaltender Jean-Francois Berube denied 28/31 shots in the loss while Nicholas Champion stopped 24/25 shots in the win.
The Junior will finish this regular season at home against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies on Sunday, at 4:05PM. Montreal’s first playoff game will be also at home against the Gatineau Olympiques, Friday, March 19th, at 7:35PM.
