The 2-2 Alouettes, in an effort to correct any gaps in their recent play, have announced some releases as well as an acquisition in defensive back Khalil Carter.

Regina, SK - July 21, 2008 – Montreal Alouettes’ Vice President and General Manager Jim Popp announced today the signing of defensive back Khalil Carter.

Carter (6’1”, 200 lbs) is a three-year CFL veteran who played three seasons with the Toronto Argonauts from 2005 through 2007. In 31 career games, he has 68 defensive tackles and nine special teams tackles on top of eight interceptions for 270 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The 31 year-old University of Arkansas product is also a veteran of the Arena Football League.

The Alouettes also announced the releases of return specialist Jason Armstead and defensive back Rayshaun Kizer.

Nick's note : In the case of Jason Armstead, the writing was clearly on the wall. Since the beginning of the season, he has only averaged approximately 6.5 yards per return... Not exactly stellar play. The knee he took against the Roughriders on Saturday night in the late goings of the game which eventually resulted in Saskatchewan having great possession in the Alouettes end, might have been the last straw.
