HAITI NATIONAL TEAM, MONTREAL IMPACT PLAY TO NIL-NIL DRAW
The Montreal Impact and the Haitian National Team tied 0-0, Wednesday, in front of 8,047 spectators at Saputo Stadium, in its second of six international games presented this summer in Montreal.
Coach Marc Dos Santos was looking for a better effort than the 4-0 loss suffered recently to Portland. “We played a good game tonight and we need to continue to forge ahead. We played a very good game defensively. Everyone did well tonight and we played with intensity. We respected the public today with a very good performance. This game was a good simulation of our Champions League games.”
Making their way into this game's lineup were midfielders Ciaran O’Brien and Tyler Rosenlund currently trying out with the Impact, defender Hicham Aaboubou, and Reda Agourram who all entered the game in the second half. 'Keeper Srdjan Djekanovic played the entire game and registered the shutout after facing 9 shots.
Montreal was outshot 9-7, however it was Jean-Dominique Zepherin who was forced to make 2 good saves in order to preserve the tie, including one instance when Pa Amadou Gai recovered a ball in Haitian territory, and alone from the right wing, fired a low shot that Jean-Zepherin stopped by diving to his right.
Defender Alex Surprenant played his first game this year with the Impact, while captain Mauro Biello and forward Pa Amadou Gai were on the starting lineup for the first time this year.
Montreal's next game is a USL regular season home game against the Charleston Battery on July 5th.
