
Gatineau downs Montreal 3 to 2.
With the Holiday Hiatus over for the Montreal Juniors, they were back in action after an 11 day rest and they headed to Gatineau for a divisional showdown against the Olympiques.
These two teams met just before the break in an 8-6 affair that saw the Juniors on the short end of the stick. The teams would give their goaltenders’ saved percentages a break in this one, but Montreal would go down to the Olympique yet again by a score of 3-2

Montreal, December 28th 2009 - With two games left before entering 2010, the Juniors visited the Gatineau Olympiques tonight for a divisional rival showdown. It was a hard fought match, but the Olympiques defeated the Juniors 3 to 2. Tye McGinn (2) and Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored for the Foreurs. Jeremy Gouchie and Matthew Brenton earned the goals for the Juniors.
Gatineau forward Tye McGinn opened the scoring for the Olympiques when he put the puck past Jean-Francois Berube at 17:05 of the first period. Just seconds into the second period, the Juniors showed a great effort on the penalty kill when forwards Jeremy Gouchie and Matthew Brenton each added a shorthanded goal at 0:12 and 0:55 respectively to give the Juniors the lead. Olympiques Jean-Gabriel Pageau would even things up when he scored his sixth of year at 12:48. Tye McGinn would strike again as he scored the game winner and his second of the night at 17:59 of the second. With no scoring in the third, the final score of the match was Gatineau 3, Montreal 2.
Montreal goalie Jean-Francois Berube denied 15/18 shots in the losing effort. Olympique goaltender Maxime Clermont stopped 26/28 saves in the win. The Juniors have a record of 16-17-0-3 and Gatineau improves to 20-15-0-3.
Montreal will conclude the 2009 year with a home game against the Shawinigan Cataractes on Wednesday, December 30th, at 7:35PM. The Juniors will start the new year when they host the Val-d’Or Foreurs and the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies respectively on Saturday and Sunday. Both games will start at 4:05PM.
