Written by Nick Murdocco. Posted in Blogs - Nick Murdocco

Montreal February 28th 2010-The Montreal Juniors took on the defending champs, the Drummondville Voltigeurs, this afternoon in Drummondville.  Former Juniors goaltender Jake Allen went into this game with more than 170 consecutive minutes without giving up a goal.  But this streak would come to an end when Hugo Roux scored his third of season at 15:03 of the first period. This would prove to be the only goal the Juniors would get, en route to a 4-1 loss.

Read on for the official Juniors game recap.

In the first period, Jake Allen’s streak was broken when Hugo Roux scored his third of season at 15:03 of the first period.  This places Jake Allen second in the Q’s record books with 188 minutes 47 seconds without a goal.

The Voltigeurs stormed back in the second period with four goals.  Gabriel Dumont, Benoit Levesque, Sean Couturier, and Christopher DiDomenico gave the Voltigeurs a 4 to 1 lead going to the third period.  Without any scoring in the third, the Voltigeurs roll past the Juniors 4 to 1.

Juniors Jean-Francois Berube stopped 32/36 in the loss while Jake Allen was excellent for the Voltigeurs as he made 33/34 saves in the win.  The Juniors are now 29-27-2-4 and the Voltigeurs are 46-15-0-2.  The Juniors will take the Gatineau Olympiques at home on Thursday before they head to Victoriaville, Lewiston, and Moncton for a three game roadtrip.
