CFL - Montreal Alouettes Release 9, Three Others Retire

As was expected just prior to the season's start on July first, the Montreal Alouettes have announced some cuts from their 2009-10 roster. As well, three players have announced their retirements. Final custs, if any are to be announced on June 25th.

The team will then practise on the 27th, 28th and 29th before heading to Calgary where they will play their first regular season game against the Stampeders on Canada Day. Read on for the official Alouettes press release.

The Montreal Alouettes announced today that the following players have been released:

 

- Blue Adams, cornerback
- Rodney Hardeway, defensive end
- Frantz Hardy, receiver
- Kevin Marion, receiver
- Robbie Powell, guard
- Chris Rutledge, offensive tackle
- Jay Staggs, linebacker
- Joshua Thompson, defensive tackle
- Jamaine Winborne, linebacker

 

The following players have retired:
 
- Nickolas Morin-Soucy, defensive end
- Benoit Boulanger, fullback
- Matt Singer, guard

 

The Alouettes will resume practice this Saturday in preparation for their first regular season game against the Stampeders in Calgary on Wednesday, July 1. The team will play its first regular season home game on Thursday, July 9, against the Edmonton Eskimos.
