But in the end, Gui is entitled to his reality. Hopefully he gets his new lease on life in Minnesota and finds his game in a new jersey, but, again, in my opinion, the honeymoon will be over quickly if he does not realize that he must go to the net and stay in front of the net if he wants to score more than his career high 16 goals per season.

Perhaps the final, blatant coaching tidbit that Latendresse may have received from the Habs training staff yesterday morning, will help him out in his new adventure: It appears that Perry Pearn literally grabbed Latendresse by the shoulders, skated him to the goal crease and told him that this is where he belonged… Wonder if he was ever told that before yesterday.

As for Benoit Pouliot, don’t kid yourself if you think that The Wild didn’t get rid of one of their failed projects either.

Pouliot was drafted 4th overall in the 2005 entry draft by the Wild, just ahead of Carey Price and while there were great expectations from this young up and comer, Minnesota now feels, as the Habs, that his output, and Pouliot’s self confessed lack of work ethic were enough to look for a change of scenery.

Time will tell who the trade benefits most, however the first race for point production from either of these two is stalled as Latendresse is waiting for his Visa to be accepted, and Pouliot is healing a hand injury that won’t see him in a Habs uniform until at least next week.

Please read on for the official Habs press release.
