Canadiens Release 2010-2011 Season Schedule

The Canadiens have released their 2010-11 season schedule and as it did last season, the season begins and ends with games versus the Toronto Mapleleafs. other dates of note include the Habs home opener on October 13th where they will face Guy Boucher's Tampa Bay Lightning and a March 10th battle of former co-number 1's when the team travels to St Louis to face Jaroslav Halak's Blues.

The Montreal Canadiens and the NHL today released the schedule for the 2010-11 season. For the tenth consecutive year, the team will open the season on the road, facing the Maple Leafs in Toronto on Thursday, October 7th.

The Canadiens’ home opener at the Bell Centre will be on Wednesday, October 13 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Canadiens’ regular season will end on Saturday, April 9 against the Maple Leafs, at the Air Canada Center in Toronto, wrapping up an 82-game schedule over 185 days.

All weeknight games at the Bell Centre will start at 7:30 p.m., with the exception of the December 1 game vs Edmonton (7 p.m.).

The Saturday games at home will start at 7 p.m. with the exception of four weekend afternoon games; Saturday, December 4 against San Jose (2 p.m.), Sunday, January 2 against Atlanta (1 p.m.), as well as the two matinee games during the traditional Super Bowl Weekend on Saturday, February 5 against NY Rangers (2 p.m.) and Sunday, February 6 against New Jersey (3 p.m.).

In 2010-11, the Canadiens will face each of their division rivals (Boston, Buffalo, Ottawa and Toronto) six times (24 games). Four games will be played against each of the other 10 teams from the Eastern Conference (40 games). The remaining 18 games will be played versus Western Conference teams for a minimum of one game against each of the 15 Western teams, plus three (3) games featuring Canadian rivals (Calgary, Vancouver and Edmonton).

The Canadiens will play seven preseason games between September 22 and October 2, including five (5) games at the Bell Centre, as the team will host Boston, Ottawa, Minnesota, Florida and Buffalo. Two preseason games will be also be played in Ottawa (September 25) and at the Colisée Pepsi in Quebec City (October 2 vs NY Islanders).

All Canadiens regular season games will be broadcasted on RDS-HD, CJAD and CKAC.

Canadiens home games will be played at least once on each day of the week, at the exception of Friday. Saturday remains the busiest day on the schedule with 21 games, including 14 home contests.
