As was expected with Jaroslav Halak not accompanying the team on their road trip due to the flu, Marc Denis has been called up from the Hamiulton Bulldogs to back up starter Carey Price. Halak, who arguably has been the reason why the Canadiens are on their recent 4 game winning streak, leaves the door wide open to encumbant Price to bring his A game and vie for the starting position he had recently lost to Halak. If all goes well for the Habs and Price, Denis should see no ice time.

Read on for the official Habs press release on Denis.

The Montreal Canadiens announced today that goaltender Marc Denis was recalled from the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs. He will take part of the club’s practice today in Buffalo.

A Colorado Avalanche first-round selection in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, Denis posted 21-14-0 record in 36 games this season with Hamilton, with a 2.57 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage. Denis was also named AHL Player of the Week for the period ending November 2, 2008, after recording three wins in as many starts.

The 31-year-old netminder appeared in one game with the Canadiens this season, turning aside six of the seven shots he faced in 20 minutes of ice time on January 2, 2009, in New Jersey.
