Weber Back Down, Bergeron Up

Written by Nick Murdocco. Posted in Blogs - Nick Murdocco

This announcement was inevitable from the Montreal Canadiens, who are expected to call up newly acquired Marc-André Bergeron who was in Hamilton for a conditioning stint.

Yannick Weber, while he didn’t give the Canadiens any reason to regret calling him up, will have to relinquish his spot to  Bergeron’s NHL experience and now take advantage of more ice time in the AHL.

According to the official Habs’ press release:

Montréal (October 12, 2009) – The Montreal Canadiens announced today that defenseman Yannick Weber has been assigned to the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs.

Weber, 21, had been recalled from the Bulldogs on October 4. The 5’11’’, 193 lbs defenseman played in three Canadiens contests since being called up. He was held pointless and recorded one shot on goal.

Weber played three NHL regular season games with the Canadiens in 2008-09, recording one assist (0-1-1). He added two points (1-1-2) in three NHL playoff games
