Bulldogs' Bell Centre Debut Ends in 2-1 Loss to Binghamton Senators
The Hamilton Bulldogs played the Binghamton Senators at the Bell Centre last night and gave the Canadiens’ faithful a close-up look at the potential next in line to suit up for the big team.
Great goaltending with Curtis Sanford for the ‘Dogs and a first star performance from Mike Sanford in nets for the baby Sens, made for an exciting game that ended with the Senators handing the Bulldogs their first regulation time loss of the season, by a score of 2-1.
Sergei Kostitsyn was greeted with initial boos, however...
by the end of the evening, chants of “Sergei, Sergei” urged the young ne’er-do-well on. While he did show some signs of inspired play, he did not necessarily give anyone any indication that he stood apart from the likes of Mathieu Darche, Brock Trotter or Yannick Weber.
One who received undeniable adulation from the nearly 15,000 fans in attendance was PK Subban who was shown even more love when he scored the Bulldogs’ only goal with just over 11 minutes to play in the game. But The Senators’ goalie definitely earned his first star nomination, stonewalling any flurry the Baby Habs sent his way.
