Als Fall to Argos 37-22
Turnabout is fair play, one would assume, but the Toronto Argonauts didn’t have to rub it in the Alouettes’ faces did they? The Argos were all over Montreal en route to a 37-22 victory.
Not only did the Boatmen avenge their 41-10 loss at the hands of the Als with a 37-22 drubbing of their own, but former Alouettes castaway Chad Owens led the charge with offence, as well as a perhaps too enthusiastic post touchdown celebration.
The running game, something the Als defence is usually accustomed to handling, seemed to catch them off guard on this night. Protecting against the pass has always been an area for improvement, but that improvement did not start on this night either.
Specialty teams will need to batten down the hatches if the Als will want to gain and keep the lead in the East. However, I for one am not all that concerned with this little bump in the road. On the contrary, I believe it may just be what the Alouettes needed to perhaps remind them what it took to be the Grey Cup last season.
Credit to the Toronto Argonauts, however, who came ready to play. They deserved this win and were the better team on the field.
Please read on for the official Als game recap.
