Alouettes Linebacker Walter Spencer in Stable but Serious Condition - UPDATE
UPDATE: Special thanks to friend of the Franchise and online editor of the Montreal Gazette as well as Alsinsideout.com , Kevin Mio, who referred me to their own update confirming that Spencer "is in a Montreal hospital in serious but stable condition following surgery, after being stabbed in the upper body during a Monday morning altercation outside a St. Laurent Blvd. bar."
---------------------------
The Montreal Alouettes have released a press release early this evening stating that linebacker Walter Spencer is in hospital, in “stable but serious” condition after being involved in an incident that the team prefers to not elaborate on at this time.
Montreal Police are still investigating the incident and some Montreal media such as montrealgazette.com , RDS and Canoe are speculating that Spencer’s situation is matching reports that a 32 year old man is in hospital in critical condition after being beaten with a blunt object in a bar fight.
We here at the Franchise wish Mr Spencer a healty and quick recovery and our thoughts are with him and his family.
Read on for the official Alouettes press release.
Montreal, Sept. 6, 2010 - A member of the Montreal Alouettes was involved in a serious incident early Monday morning.
Linebacker Walter Spencer was immediately taken to hospital - the nature of his injuries has not yet been revealed. His condition is listed as stable, but serious.
For the moment, the organization will not comment the situation and will let the police continue their investigation.
The Alouettes are saddened by what has happened and our thoughts and prayers go out to Walter, his family, and his friends.
Spencer, who was born in Detroit, currently leads the Alouettes for most special team tackles this season.
The club will keep the media updated of Walter's medical condition as information becomes available.
