Alouettes confirm 2011 Coaching Staff

Written by Nick Murdocco. Posted in Blogs - Nick Murdocco

The Montreal Alouettes announced the confirmation of their coaching staff for the 2011 season.

While lots of speculation had head coach Marc Trestman leaving for greener ($$) pastures,  it was made rather clear earlier this year that this is not the case for the near future. He was part of the Alouettes entourage that made the coaching announcements official.

Assistant head coach, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Scott Milanovich is also confirmed as staying with the team. Milanovich, who did not take the opportunities to coach elsewhere in the CFL next season, decided to remain with montreal as he would most likely be the heir apparent if and when Trestman would decide to move on to pursue other projects.

Montreal, Feb. 7, 2011 - Montreal Alouettes' Vice President and General Manager Jim Popp and Head Coach Marc Trestman confirmed today the 2011 Alouettes' coaching staff.

Daronte' Jones completes the team's coaching staff which is almost intact following the 2010 Grey Cup championship as he will take over the defensive backs' unit. Tim Tibesar is the new defensive coordinator and will continue working with the linebackers as well.

The other coaches who will be back in 2011 are assistant head coach, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Scott Milanovich, special teams coordinator, running backs coach and administrative assistant to the head coach Andy Bischoff, defensive line coach Mike Sinclair, receivers coach Marcus Brady, offensive line coach Jonathan Himebauch, offensive and special teams assistant Carson Walch and defensive assistant Jean-Marc Edme.

Jones was a defensive assistant with the UCLA Bruins in the NCAA last season. He had previously spent five seasons (2005-09) as an assistant head coach and defensive coordinator with the Bowie State University Bulldogs. In his last year in Bowie State, the Bulldogs' defence ranked first in the country in NCAA division II.
