Als Win 39-17 over Winnipeg, but at what cost?

Montreal Alouettes

So yes, the Montreal Alouettes dominated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers by 22 points last night at Percival Molson Stadium, winning 39-17, but Als fans can be sure that they would have given up 21 of those points if it meant not seeing future HOF QB Anthony Calvillo go down to what was later described as a rib injury in the 2nd Quarter. Calvillo and the Alouettes were dominating the Blue Bombers, having scored 3 TD's, one by special teams, and the other two with emerging star SJ Green lunging both teams to get the 6 points. Leak did a decent job filling in for Calvillo the rest of the way by going 10 of 15 for 99 yards, but it was truly Brandon Whitaker (no relation to me) who kept the Bombers at by with 2 much needed rushing touchdowns after Winnipeg had brought it to within 7 points.

Habs Trade G Cedric Desjardins to TB for G Karri Ramo

Montreal Canadiens

Before you jump to outlandish conclusions, and while I won’t say that the contract negotiations between Carey Price and the Habs are going as quickly as I’d like them, this goalie trade between Montreal and Tampa Bay is strictly an AHL transaction. The Canadiens have just announced that they have traded Cédric Désjardins for Karri Ramo.

Habs acquire Karri Ramo from Tampa Bay in exchange of Cedrick Desjardins

Montreal Canadiens

So the pillaging of Montreal Canadiens talent, both roster and management, continues. You'd think that with all this demand for Canadiens', they'd have won something in the last 17 years...That being said, one has to wonder if this is a sign that perhaps the talks with Carey Price and his agent are a bit more heated than previously reported. While Ramo is not a bonafide NHL caliber starter by any stretch of the imagination, he does have decent NHL level statistics on what was a less than decent NHL team. However, he is in the 2nd of a 2 year deal to play with the Omsk Avangard of the KHL. Here is the official Press Release:

MONTREAL -- Montreal Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier announced Monday the acquisition of goaltender Karri Ramo from the Tampa Bay Lightning, in return for netminder Cédrick Desjardins.

Als Fall to Argos 37-22

Montreal Alouettes

Turnabout is fair play, one would assume, but the Toronto Argonauts didn’t have to rub it in the Alouettes’ faces did they? The Argos were all over Montreal en route to a 37-22 victory.

Joey Saputo Issues Statement On Impact's Recent Performance

Montreal Impact

From the Official Press release:

Following the recent performances of the team, the Montreal Impact president Joey Saputo made the following statement:

Impact Now Winless in 5 as time Dwindles on 2010 season

Montreal Impact

The Montreal Impact looked poised to stay in this one against the Rochester Rhinos last Saturday night. They managed a game tying extra time goal at the end of the first half, however an all too frequent late goal given up in the 83rd minute led to the Impact’s 5th winless game in a time when every point is precious.
