Pyatt, Desharnais, Subban Assigned to Hamilton

Montreal Canadiens

With the Olympic break officially under way, the Montreal Canadiens announced that David Desharnais, Tom Pyatt and P.K. Subban have been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs.

While many can justify the return of forwards Pyatt and Desharnais, who will no longer be necessary after the break as forwards Pouliot and Andrei Kostitsyn should be back in the line-up, Subban’s reassignment probably raised a few eyebrows. It shouldn’t have.

Rouyn Noranda Has Juniors' Number, Defeat Montreal 4-3

Montreal Juniors

The Montreal Juniors hosted divisional rivals Rouyn-Noranda Huskies this afternoon and although it was Valentine’s day, there was no love shared between these two teams.  The Huskies had won the previous 5 contests and, unfortunately for the Juniors, the 6th was no exception. Led by Sergey Ostapchuk, who scored the game winner, the Huskies skated off to a 4 to 3 victory.

PK Subban to Make Canadiens Debut

Montreal Canadiens

Let’s hope PK Subban is everything everyone ever wanted in a fine young defenseman and more…. Or else.

After pundits from across this great hockey loving land have blasted Canadiens’ General manager Bob Gainey of rushing young talent up too quickly, Pierre Gauthier has announced that Subban will make the jump prior to the Olympic break to perhaps play in the Habs’ next two crucial games against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Dominic Moore a Hab, Panthers Get 2nd Round Pick

Montreal Canadiens

Amidst unfounded rumours that Alexander Frolov was being traded to Montreal, the Montreal Canadiens did make some changes to their roster, but none of the “splashy” kind, surprise, surprise.

Lately, any moves the Habs have made appeared to be of the luke-warm variety or the root cause of a rift between Habs loyalists. This move is no exception.

The Canadiens have just announced yesterday that they have acquired 29 year old Centre Dominic Moore from the Florida Panthers in return of a 2011 2nd round pick. At the same time, they announced that Ben Maxwell Had been sent back down to Hamilton.

Val D'Or Steals a 3-2 Victory from Juniors

Montreal Juniors

The Juniors were hoping to sweep the back-to-back series against Val D’Or but the Foreurs got their revenge as they topped the Juniors 3 to 2 at the Verdun Auditorium. It was Foreurs forward Alexandre Quesnel who was the difference in the game with two goals in the third period, including the game-winner.

Montreal Juniors

The Montreal Juniors ended their 5 game losing streak on February 9th, during their last game of 6 game road swing in Val D’Or. They edged their divisional rivals by a score of 3 to 2.

Juniors forward Jeremy Gouchie’s third period goal and goaltender Jean-Francois Berube stellar play led the Juniors to their 3rd vistory in as many games versus Val d’Or.
