MFL 2 Battleground Quick Results
Mixed Martial Arts - MMA
Montreal fight fans were treated to a great night of fights for MFL's 2nd MMA gala. MFL showed considerable growth both in the size of the crowd, and the quality of the production of the event since their first show several months ago. While there could have been some bad comments from the fans about the match making , some match ups were beyond the control of the matchmakers, as they had to deal with last minute injuries, as well as legal problems in getting a fighter across the border for the main event
.Here your quick results.
David Loiseau def. Chester Post
TKO round 1, 3:34 (ground and pound)
Given that Post was a last minute replacement, taking on a former UFC veteran, "the Crow" needed to end this fight in the first round, and he was able to do just that.
Steve Bossé defeats Marvin Eastman
Unanimous Decision (30-27 x 3)
The fight was much closer than the score card would lead you to believe. I had Eastman winning the 2nd round, and the first round was very, very close. However, this result will look very good to international promoters like Strikeforce and/or the UFC
Tom Murphy defeats Bruno Hosier
TKO (Ground n Pound) in Round 1, 4:33
Hosier was simply not ready to take on a fighter of Murphy's caliber. Both fighters received warnings early for hitting on the back of the head, however Bruno should have heeded an even earlier warning not to take this fight.
Martin Grandmont defeats Sébastien Garguier
TKO (ref stoppage) in Round 1, 4:44
Both Garguier and the fight fans were robbed by a quick stoppage from a young referee. This was easily the fight of the night, but could have been so much more had it been allowed to continue.
Dimitri Waardenburg defeats Mark Fraser
TKO (Ground and Pound) in Round 1, 1:31
Fraser took the advantage early, but was stopped, and knocked out cold by Dimitri who continues to show improvement in his ability to fight on the ground.
Louis-Philppe Carles defeats Chris Vorano
TKO (Ground and Pound) in Round 1, 4:42
"The Joker" Carle may need to change his name to "the Hitman". He was the excellence of execution on this night. He took his time to work his gameplan and dictate the fight on his terms.
Daylin Logan defeats Eon Shirley
TKO (Ground ‘n Pound) in Round 1, 1:21
"The Caveman" bam bams his way through another fighter.
Joey Gambino submits Louis-Philippe Gauthier
Arm Bar in Round 1, 4:45
Gambino had a lot to live up to with such a flamboyant of an entrance as having a live rapper do his theme song on his way down to the Octagon. But he lived up quickly to his "warrior" nickname with a very impressive showing of both boxing ground skills.
Lyndon Whitlock submits Pierre-Etienne Marcoux
Rear Naked Choke in Round 1, 2:10
Whilock simply grinded out a victory against a great up and coming fighter who still needs to work on his ground game
