Updated: Yves Lavigne vs...Le Journal de Montreal??

MMA

If already being the subject of legal action by pro MMA fighter David "The Crow" wasn't enough, Yves Lavigne now feels he has cause to take up legal action against Le Journal de Montreal. While the disputed interview has been pulled from its website, various websites have already copy and pasted the damaging remarks the author says was made by the UFC referee in reference to Josh Koscheck and his upcoming fight against Georges St-Pierre at UFC 124 at the Bell Center in Montreal. When Le Journal de Montreal initially ran their story about David Loiseau which strongly insinuated unfounded reports that "The Crow" had ties to organized crime, the resulting impact was a postponement for Loiseau (UFC 113) in having to clear up the negative press issues before he was finally allowed to fight at the next UFC event in Vancouver (UFC 115).

Steve "Lionheart" Vigneault Set To Face Shonie Carter on Nov 20 at W1 in Montreal

MMA

After they  break "New Ground" in Halfax, Nova Scotia on October 23rd, W-1 MMA will return to Montreal on November 20th with a card that will include none other than Quebec's own Steve "Lionheart" Vigneault! "The Lionheart" was an early pioneer in the sport of MMA, and if Quebec had a hall of fame for the sport, Steve Vigneault would certainly be a first ballot inductee. He has battled the likes of Sean Pierson, David Loiseau and Patrick Cote in his illustrious career, including an appearance in the UFC against Mike Swick, all while going 12-6 in the process. This will be Vigneault's first fight in just over a year since coming out of retirement to beat Dan Chambers at Ringside MMA - Rivalry in November, 2009.

UFC and GSP to hit Montreal, and not Toronto, Next!

MMA

Score this one for Montreal! Ariel Helwani of MMA Fanhouse has received confirmation that the UFC will be back in Montreal for a 3rd time on December 11th (and 2nd time in 2010) for UFC 124 which will be headlined by Georges St-Pierre vs Josh Koscheck. Usually when it comes down to big business, Torontonians have had the upper hand for at least the last 2 decades. And while leagues line the NBA and MLB have teams in Toronto, and the NFL is moving regular season games to the city, Montreal still has a leg up when it comes to MMA. At least until 2011.
