Montreal Sports - Montreal Juniors

Game recap from the Montreal Juniors' press release:

Montreal, October 4th, 2009 – The Montreal Juniors Hockey Club, in association with Savaria, Canada’s leader in accessibility equipment, and the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) were pleased to invite junior hockey fans to a memorable event. On this night celebrating paralympic sports, the Juniors welcomed the Baie-Comeau Drakkar to the Verdun auditorium for their first regular season head-to-head.  As Stephane Hains’ team only had two regulation wins this season, the battle against Pascal Vincent’s was sure to be fierce. The Montreal Juniors finally came out winning this encounter between the two teams with a score of 3-0. The Juniors now have a record of 6-3.

Juniors Outplayed Rocket 6-3

Montreal Sports - Montreal Juniors

The Montreal Juniors needed to bounce back after a flat 3-1 loss to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan and they found their game with the first matchup of the 2009-2010 season against the PEI Rocket on Wednesday night. The scene was set with The Rockets having won their last game, and the Juniors looking to bounce back.

Final result: sticking to coach Pascal Vincent’s plan of skating hard for 60 minutes, the Juniors won the game 6-3.

Juniors Flat Footed in 3-1 Loss

Lackadaisical play, save for sporadic bursts as well as a first star performance by the L’Acadie Bathurst goaltender, Nicolas Champion resulted in the home team Juniors losing 3-1 against the  Titans who despite having played the night before, seemed to want it a little more.

Nothing Like the Comforts of Home

Montreal Sports - Montreal Juniors

Opening night for the Montreal Juniors went as best as could be planned. After a 4 game stint on the road, the Juniors were back home and ready to entertain their fans both on and off the ice.Starting with the lively tailgate style atmosphere outside the Verdun Auditorium, and ending with an eventual nail biter towards the end of the 3rd period that resulted in a 4-3 Montreal Victory over the Lewiston MAINEiacs in front of a near capacity crowd last night, the crowd certainly got a bang for their buck..

Local MMA stars Jonathan Goulet, Guillaume DeLorenzi, Patrick Coté as well as boxer Otis Grant were on ahnd for the pregame festivities as well as to drop the puck for the ceremonial faceoff.

No fights occurred on the ice, despite the inspiration that the above mentioned gentlemen may have instilled, however the Juniors, full of youth, exuberance and anxious to please the home crowd, came out of the gates flying and although Lewiston got the first goal, Montreal got the next four.

Coach Pascal Vincent explained why the 3 goal cushion was narrowed to one by saying that his “speedcar” of a team is most impressive and performant when it is going fast, but when they take the foot off the gas and slow down, that is when they give the other teams a chance to get back into the game. Lewiston came within 1 goal of tying the Juniors while a man short with 58 seconds left in the game, but Montreal held on while on the power-play to improve their regular season record to 3-2

Please read on for the official Juniors game recap.
