Five Keys to Victory Vs Maple Leafs

Montreal Sports - Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens play their 4 straight game on the road, and hope to win their 4th straight game at the expense of long time rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs are coming off 2 straight losses, but have been a much stronger team since Phil Kessler came off the injured reserve.

Here are the Franchise Five Keys to Victory:

Habs Win 3rd Straight Against 'Canes

Montreal Sports - Montreal Canadiens

The Canadiens have once again climbed their way back to playing .500 hockey. This time they did not need to go to a shoot out to beat the Carolina Hurricans, like they did on November 17th. All they needed was the league's best power play on the road to score 4 out of their 5 goals to beat the Hurricans in Caroline by a score of 5-1. The fact that the power play has been so hot on the road comes at no better time, since the Canadiens still have 4 games to play away from home.

Canadiens recall Benoit Pouliot from the Hamilton Bulldogs

Montreal Sports - Montreal Canadiens

After 3 games in Hamilton on a reconditioning stint to test out the repaired hand injury to Benoit Pouliot, the young forward has been recalled by the Montreal Candadiens and is expected to join the team in Atlanta today.

Markov Explodes, Halak Shines, Habs Win!

Montreal Sports - Montreal Canadiens

What a difference 35 games makes...that's how long it has been since Andrei Markov has been in the line up. Since then, the Canadiens have won 15, lost 18, and had 3 OT losses. The Canadiens team that beat the Islanders 3-0 tonight was definitely not the same team that has lost its last 5 games.

Not only did Markov lead the Canadiens in goals tonight with 2 (both on the PP), but he was 3rd on the time in minutes played at just over 20.

5 Habs Questions Vs Wild - Statement Game

Montreal Sports - Montreal Canadiens

After dominating Boston, Philadelphia and Ottawa by a combined score of 12 - 3, the Canadiens have gone on to lose their next 4 games by a margin of 1 goal in each and every game. To add insult to standings injury, the Habs have lost 3 of their last 4 games late in the 3rd period, including a real heartbreaker in New Jersey last night. Tonight, the Montreal Canadiens are back at home as they welcome back Guillaume Latendresse and the Minnesota Wild. For his part, when Latendresse has not been contributing on the scoresheet, he has made his presence felt on the ice with solid hits. Montreal is playing their 3rd game in 4 nights, while Minnesota is only playing in their 2nd, and had yesterday off. The Wild have also won 3 of their last 4 games, with 2 wins coming on the road.
