FLAMES, CANADIENS TO MEET IN HERITAGE CLASSIC ON FEB. 20

NEW YORK (June 22, 2010) -- The National Hockey League confirmed
today that the Calgary Flames will host the Montreal Canadiens in the
Heritage Classic at McMahon Stadium on February 20. Further details on the
game will be announced at a later date.

Plekanec to Remain a Hab Until 2016

The Montreal Canadiens have been busy this last week attending to their roster. With the announcement that goaltender Jaroslav Halak was traded to St Louis, speculation arose as to whether the money potentially saved by the young netminder’s release would make way for the signing of future UFA Thomas Plekanec. The Habs answered that question today with a confirmation that they have locked down the diminutive centre for 6 years at 5M per season.

Canadiens Release 2010-2011 Season Schedule

The Canadiens have released their 2010-11 season schedule and as it did last season, the season begins and ends with games versus the Toronto Mapleleafs. other dates of note include the Habs home opener on October 13th where they will face Guy Boucher's Tampa Bay Lightning and a March 10th battle of former co-number 1's when the team travels to St Louis to face Jaroslav Halak's Blues.
