Laraque on Kronwall, Was it Intentional? (Updated)

Montreal Sports - Montreal Canadiens

While Colin Campbell mules over the tape from Saturday night's game in Montreal against Detroit, and the phone conversation he had with Georges Laraque at 10 am this morning for BGL to explain his side of things, I ask you, the fans, whether or not Laraque's hit was dirty. Here are a few key points I think are important to consider when you look at the video of the incident (further below):

NHL Names Carey Price 2nd Star of the Week

Montreal Sports - Montreal Canadiens

Carey Price was named the National Hockey League's second star of the week today after great performances in his last 3 outings during that span.

In reality, Price's last 7 games leading up to this week's nomination were indicative that the young net-minder has been ramping up his game to a point where he appears to be in "the zone". His play, even after a loss, forced coach Jacques Martin to forego his usual "win and your in" philosophy and kept Price in nets for the next game, instead of opting for Jaroslav Halak.

Read on for the NHL's press release on Price and the week's other stars, Joe Thornton (1) and Mike Fisher (3)

Canadiens assign Gregory Stewart to Hamilton Bulldogs

Montreal Sports - Montreal Canadiens

After playing a grand total of 2:14 in his first start in ages against the Carolina Hurricanes, Gregory Stewart has been sent down to the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Stewart, who was a healthy scratch more times than not and when he did get the call, was not much of a factor, either due to lack of playing time, or intensity is being sent down for what the Canadiens call a two week conditioning stint.

The Bulldogs, with injury and call-up troubles of their own, will surely welcome Stewart back with open arms.

Please read on for the Canadiens’ press release.

Canadiens assign Mathieu Carle to the Hamilton Bulldogs

Montreal Sports - Montreal Canadiens

The news must be positive for Ryan O’Byrne as the Canadiens have returned defenseman Mathieu Carle to the Hamilton Bulldogs today. O'Byrne, who's missed 19 games with a sprained knee, was to meet with team doctors last night in hopes of getting the green light to play as early as this Friday’s stint in Washington.

While the official word on O’Byrne’s return has not been made by coach Jacques Martin, this announcement concerning Carle may as well be it.

Bulldogs To Play Second Game At Bell Centre Feb 21st, 2010

Montreal Sports - Montreal Canadiens

The Baby Habs will be back at the Bell Centre for another AHL game, this time against the Adirondack Phantoms.

Although the ‘Dogs lost for the first time in regulation time this season (3-1) in their Bell Centre début, there is no doubt that there is an interest in the Canadiens’ farm team as nearly 15,000 fans were in attendance to cheer on the ”home” team.

The Bulldogs (8-2-1-3), impressed with the reception they received their last time out to the “phone booth” will surely be looking to give the Canadiens faithful a win this time around against the Phantoms who are presently 6-5-1-0.

Please read on for the official Habs press release.
