Anthony Calvillo, Larry Taylor named CFL Players of the Month - July 2009
Montreal Sports - Montreal Alouettes
One can hardly argue the fact that Anthony Calvillo has had a banner month this past July. He surpassed Ron Lancaster putting him in second place for most TD passes in CFL history and just recently threw for his 60,000th yard making him only the scond QB to achieve this milestone in the league.
He has led the Als to an early 4-1 record with 4 of those games coming against the fierce western division and has done so in dominant fashion as he either leads the league or is tied in all offensive categories. It is only fitting that this month's honours for Offensive player go to him.
Larry Taylor, the Alouettes’ Most Outstanding Rookie and Most Outstanding Special Teams Player last season, is looking to prove that he is not going through a sophomore slump as he was also named Special Teams Player of the month for July.
Taylor's highlights thus far, among others have been a 68 yard punt-return touchdown in the Als’ win against Edmonton on July 9, for which he won Player of the week honours.
