Als 34-25 Win Over Roughriders A Question Of Teamwork

Those that see life as the "glass being half empty" may be of the ilk that the Montreal Alouettes were lucky to be on the winning side of Friday's 34-25 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders, citing weaker offense and lucky bounces due to turnovers. While arguments can be made that were it not for 5 Saskatchewan turnovers and a couple of picks, the score could have been different, it still remains that the Als' defence created those situations and the offense was able to adapt and overcome any resistance the Roughriders were handing them.

Alouette's Defense More Than "OK"

Leading up to the game pitting the Alouettes against the Bluebombers, Winnipeg running-back Fred Reid said the Als' defense "isn’t that good. They’ve got an okay defensive line. The linebackers aren’t all that good. Not to me.” Maybe he should have left well enough alone.

It's not as if Montreal's defence needed any more motivation, but in this game that would either see the two teams tied atop the CFL standings, or have Montreal pull away, both offense and defense would shine as the Als defeated the Bluebombers convincingly 39-12 and contained Reid to only 49 yards in the process.

Montreal Alouettes Blank Argonauts 25-0

After the Alouettes were handed their first loss of the season last week against the Eskimos, which had many thinking that their weaknesses were showing and that Edmonton managed to capitalize on them, what better way to answer back than to dominate a game and shut out their very next opponent?

The Als did just that when they met their Eastern Division rivals, the Toronto Argonauts and blanked them by a score of 25-0.
